THANK YOU for your inspiration, i want to make this short without boring you I watch your movie for inspiration and just found your website.  I have negative 300 dollars in my bank account started my business on credit cards i’m in huge debt.  Your movie brings tears to my eyes b/c I feel that passion to succeed as you did in the movie.  I followed my dream/vision since i was a kid to have a clothing line designed by me which i used my nickname of 11 years to name it.  Scuba Steve seen at ShopScubaSteve.com My mom and I are watching your movie now and i just googled to see if you had a website your quotes mean alot to me at this time.  I am dead broke went to every boutique in MS to sell my clothes was laughed at and turned down I feel AWFUL but this movie and reading your quotes just now on the site rejuvenated my passion to pick myself up and go after again Monday.

Thank You sir.

Dear Chris,
I cannot even begin to describe the fire you inspire in me. I watched the movie, and I watched your speech in UC Berkley. I am a single father with a 7 yr old son, and unbelievably I am in the exact same spot as you were years ago. My software business up in doldrums, I am broke and homeless. I am fiercely independent and I absolutely am not asking for any help whatsoever. I just want you to know, how much you inspire me (as I just finished watching the movie for the tenth time) to get up and struggle everyday. If I am successful ever in my own quest for “happyness”, it will be an honor to get to know you. Sir, you absolutely are a hero and role model.

Regards,

dear Mr. Gardner,
i have seen the movie several times and i can not help but cry every single time. part of it is will smith’s performance. part of it is the amazing path you took to get where you are now. and the rest is knowing that i see myself in that exact position. i have been homeless as well with my young toddler son. i do have to admit that my situation is not as dramatic as yours was. but i see similar things in both our stories. the main thing you drive home is your commitment to your son because of a promise to yourself. and no matter what happens i want my son to know that is exactly what i did for him as well. i am not where i want to be in life yet but i feel take i am on the right track. today is father’s day 2009 and i want to say to a man that is like Michael Jordan or Nelson Mandela to me happy father’s day. i know that this is the only way I’ll ever have contact with you but i want you to know that you have touched my heart and my spirit to go forward. to move on and give my son everything i never had, a great father. thank you for everything you have done.
sincerely
Terrence Anderson

Dr. Mr. Christopher Gardner and Son
It’s a pleasure to know about a great humanbeing that you are. I admire you and your son.  The life is not easy but we have the power inside us.  When I saw the movie The Persuit of Happiness I understood that the perseverance and the faith is all to make the dreams come true, no matter the circumstances and rock in the way. God is all.  I hope that i had the opportunity to know you in person not far.  So, I’m a sigle mom with two daughters, that had to do many things like selling chocolates and others to survive. Today I have my own work because I never quit.  God bless you and your family.

Blessings,

Querido Sr. Gardner:

I am reading the book and though I am not finished I have come up with a conclusion.
The book is not just about “Start where you are” as much as it’s about, take a few steps back, go around that bolder you have been pushing around all this time and move forward. Now how does that feel. Ha!
You were my inspiration while I was studying to take the Series 7 test. I figured if you could do it in your condition. I could do it with all that I had going for myself. (I did it.)
I also passed by your office every morning on my way to class. That was a bridge the gap moment. And your not done yet.
Dave Magers told me you were working on some things that I would love to be a part of. And I know I will. We will meet soon. Because I, like you have important knowledge and experience to share, I am an excellent program designer and I add value to peoples lives. I look forward to working with you.

Mr. Gardner:
THANK YOU for being and doing you.  I pray that I have the opportunity to meet you face to face.  It would be an honor.  I to believe in going after what I want.  So thank you again until we meet.

Good afternoon Chris

I writing to you from Australia and after watching your the movie about you last night I felt compelled to write and say how inspired I was after watching the movie. I have a wife and young son and a job and a home so I’m in a very different situation to what you were in but my reason for being inspired is in part because of your “Never Give Up” attitude your character showed in the movie, things were bad for you, and it would have been a lot easier im guessing to say to hell with this im out of here and nobody would have blamed you but you didnt. You wanted the best for your son, you couldnt let him down and in turn perhaps for your son you never gave up.
I was inspired because unlike you back then I am very fortunate and have a lot to be happy about, I have a wife a son a house a job food in my cupboard money in my pockets yet I take all of this for granted and never really take time outr to apprechiate it. Watching the movie, seeing you line up for a vacant spot at the homeless shelterjust broke my heart. I guess what im saying is that I will now apprechiate my life more and everything in it now after
seeing your struggles protrayed in the movie. I hope you continue to be inspired so you sir can then keep on inspiring.

Like Ben Jones above I’m also in Australia and settled down last night to watch what I assumed would be the usual trashy Sunday night movie…..not so…..it was brilliant and very thought provoking. Like Ben, I also have a job, loving family, beautiful kids, more than enough food on the table each night and really not much to complain about. I take my hat off to everything you have achieved and hope you too treasure each day now and remember those humble beginnings. I haven’t read your books - to be honest I had never heard of you before last night, but will endeavour to find a copy and, of course keep my eyes / ears peeled for any forthcoming Australian tour!

dear mr gardner
sir, m from a very small town in india & a father of a 3 year old, sir up’s & down in life are the only constant so i wont go for rags to riches story, bcoz after seeing the movie i realised the part in a relation is being together & care for others rather than money, sir an apsolute delight, honour & i guess am blessed to see the movie. i just cant tell you that tears & emotions are just an under statement to describe the after effects of the movie. sir in this age of materialism i thank you & all others involved in making the movie & bringing it to the masses.
sir lastly am sure with the money & all helps but m sure that u were very rich in your bad times bcoz u had ur son and a gr8 gr8 relation with him.
sir i wish richness in relation is wat drives everyone rather than materialism
i thank you again

Wow, what a good movie.  You are a true inspiration!  It is hard sometimes to stay focused and positive and when my little girl was diagnosed with cancer 2 years ago, I had to work really hard at staying positive.  We are nearly at the end of treatment now and we’ll have to start picking up the pieces and try and find ourselves again and try and focus on our goals again that had to take a step back as we focused on her treatment and trying to make “normal” as much as possible.  I just want to say thank you because you proved that if you really really want something, anything is possible!
