Mr. Gardner,
I just wanted to take a moment to share with you how your story has personally inspired me and continues to serve as a source of strength anytime I’m faced with an obstacle in my “Pursuit of Happyness.”
I, too, am about to embark on a rather bold and ambitious step to realize potential which has been untapped since leaving college almost 20 years ago. Though I’ve achieved a measure of success in my field (I’m a public relations professional), I’ve decided to return to school full-time next fall to pursue an undergraduate degree in political communications. As a single mother of two, I feel it important to provide my son and daughter an example which reminds them perseverence is one of the most important attributes one can possess. I want my decision to complete my degree to raise the standard for them and to help them realize, even in the face of unreal odds, ANYTHING is achievable.
I attended a session at the National Urban League conference in Chicago this summer which included you in a discussion with our Young Professionals National President and Magic Johnson. You mentioned you might be considering making scholarship monies available. I’m interested in learning more about selection criteria if you decide to establish a scholarship fund. If you could provide information, an email address or a Web site where I can find that information, I’d be most appreciative.
Thank you for providing hope to those of us who have felt our backs pressed against the wall…and letting us know we can make it.
the most inspiring story of my life, you are so admired by me
I luv this site
Dear Mr. Gardner,
Did you pick who you wanted to play you in the movie The Pursuit Of Happyness??
Dear Mr. Gardner,
Very timely when we watched your story “The Pursuit of HappYness” we were in the time that our business is not gaining already but always at a lost. It seems that we were on your shoe when we were watching it, it really touched our heart(my husband and I) My tears keeps on falling even the movie was finished, For you reminded me of my father who passed away when I was nine years old, he seems to be like you very hardworking and a loving father. My husband and I learned to appreciate every blessings we received. We learned to be thankful for not everybody doesn’t eat what we ate, doesn’t own what we owned, and never been to where we’ve been. And most especially stay with each other in the most difficult time of our lives.God bless, keep it up and continue to trust in HIM!!!
i though your movie was good.
You’re such an inspiration to people who’ve started with nothing. I was never in that situation but The Pursuit of Happyness has inspired me to never give up anyway and be grateful because even you, coming out of a situation where you couldn’t even find a pen or pencil, made it to a place that most people born into a higher middle-class can’t get. You must be, understandably, very proud.
I know some of you probably wont believe this but I ACTUALLY MET THIS GUY!!...He spoke at the HOPE CENTER here in LExington, KY. I bumped into him at the hotel as he was getting picked up by his driver heading to the airport. It’s bitter sweet because we chatted about some things and he took down my information, told me that he respected what I was doing, and claimed he was going to send me two autographed copies of his books. The biggest thing though, he was suppose to be aligning me with his agent to help me get my book published!!! He said he wanted to read it because it was inspiring, like his story. I know these cats stay busy and everything, but you not supposed to loose intergrity once you get rich. There is no hard feelings because I’m GOING to do what I know I’m supposed to do with this book, and I’m taking it as a blessing just to have met him. Maybe he lost the numbers, email, and such. Maybe he hasn’t contacted his people and busy. I don’t know, but that was back in December. We’ll see as I Pursue Happyness!!
thanks you story , i will hard work!!!
I read and reviewed Start Where You Are. In his book, Mr. Gardner clearly says everybody wants a piece of him now. He was very impressed with the young man who just wanted advice. He said he used to say “How Much?”
He can’t help everyone. Look what happened to M.C. Hammer. He helped his so-called friends. Where are his friends now? To see a writer and expect him to work out your life is not fair. Didn’t his mother teach him well. The Calvary Ain’t Coming.
I believe that means we have to save ourselves by looking to ourselves. I am never in awe over dying flesh. I never have been, and I hope to never be. I have entertainers and artists that I enjoy, but to attempt to put a guilt trip on someone who owes us nothing is just not fair. I say re-read the book.
Everyone knows people do not respect you when you’re down and out. Once you get up, here they come—friends and family that you never knew you had.
I repeat and on intercom: Whose responsibility is it for me to take care of me and for you to care of you?

I have felt much proud after having a keen look at the movie: “Pursuit of happYness” that i live in the world where lives CHRIS GARDENER at the same time.
Your life is an inspiration..you are an inspiration and that’s all….
Love and hope to everybody who has been in this situation and is still in this situation as Chris and his son. It’s a story with a very sad beginning.
I’m glad that Chris found stability for his son and himself.
Also makes me think about how many other people in the world are still doing it tough like that.
Always try to do something in your life to help others in some small way…..........

O filme The Pursuit of Happyness me fez acreditar que a autoconfiança e a determinação compõem o alicerce que sustenta um objetivo.

The Film ‘Pursuit of Happyness’ is a pure inspiration. I sometimes find that I feel for sorry for myself, I shouldn’t I’m the only one that can improve my life. I strive for the determination the Chris has shown throughout his life.
Good afternoon Mr Gardiner,
Well what can I say but, I can’t believe how much I feel inspired by your personal story. It moves me so much, especially in these times, how much you worked so hard for the true happiness you searched for and now have. If there were just a handful of wonderful people like you in this world it would be a wonderful place to be.
You have touched my heart and my life and I continue to do the things I’ve always wanted to do to pursue my happiness!
You are a fantastic person and an inspiration to people around the world.
Take care, keep your happiness flowing, Love, Angela, Scotland
Thank you.
